The UK's network of local Wildlife Trusts is a definite asset to biodiversity and our awareness, providing local action on national projects. I am involved
with the Dorset Wildlife
Trust. and also The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is a national sucess having reached over 1 million members. Superb marketing from this Birdlife International partner has enhanced the societies ability to build a national network of reserves with a focus that is frequently beyond birds. Without the vision of the British Trust for Ornithology monitoring bird populations for over 30 years we would have far less idea of the severity of the decline of farmland birds. Internationally the World Wide Fund for nature is extremely active with any endangered species globally.
