Volunteers

You can help by becomng a surveyor. Getting to know your local watercourse and the wildlife that lives there. You will be given the opportunity to learn to survey for the elusive otter as well as other wildlife. Water voles and mink are of particular interest to our water mammal surveys.

We also build Holts. In order to improve otter habitat a variety of measures are employed in conjunction with landowners. The most ‘hands-on’ is to build artificial Holts to try and provide otters with extra sites to breed at.

Part of our work is to raise the profile of the quality of our river habitat. It is important to us that people recognise the importance of the management of watercourses and running a stall at a local event promotes this interest.
