Welcome to the twelth otter bulletin. It is great
to announce our Christmas Social this year will be on conjunction
with the Mammal Network, so including everyone keen on bats, badgers,
dormice etc. PLEASE book early as we expect this event to be very
popular.
GROUP ADMINISTRATION
Many thanks go to Elizabeth James for her fantastic work for otters
in the west of the county. Elizabeth has retired from the DOG committee
and as area co-ordinator, but hopefully will still join us at socials!
This means we are looking for a co-ordinator for the Char, Brit
and Bride areas. If anyone is interested, please get in touch.
Gillian Hoad has kindly volunteered to be our administration volunteer
at Brooklands, Sandie Moors is taking on the Blandford Area Co-ordinator
role, and Sarah-Jane Buckle has offered to help in the east of the
County.

Lecture on “Beavers” by Phoebe Carter, formerly of the
Mammal Society and now of the Cotswold Water Park Society will talk
about the beavers they have reintroduced into a catchment in the
Cotswolds and which have bred for the first time this year.

OTTER SPOTTERS
Gillian has finalised our active otter spotter list now, in order
to get our system as efficient as possible. Thanks to everyone who
responded to her last letter. We are also taking a look at our training
scheme, as it hasn’t been overly successful in getting new
surveyors. From now on, we shall be operating a ‘buddy’
scheme to train potential spotters, so if you want to be considered
for this, please contact me to enrol.
