Upton Heath Habitat Restoration

Description:

Working with the Dorset Wildlife Trust to clear habitat on Upton Heath. This involves cutting and burning invasive scrub to restore the site to heathland/acid grassland.

This is an ongoing project that will count towards the Environmental Partnership award or the Environmental Project component of the Chief Scouts Platinum award. Its also great fun.

The Wildlife Trust run regular work parties in the holidays for anyone interested in continuing this.

We had a sucessful morning clearing scrub and burning it on 8th October and 19th November. We had a good couple of mornings and have made a good contribution to clearing the area. We even got to see one of the local reptiles.
